Our Track Record? Sunset Point (in Bocas del Toro)

Sunset Point, Bocas is a 168-acre site which has been developed over the last four years. It is situated in Bocas del Toro, on the Caribbean coast of Panama and is one of the most remarkable developments currently occurring in Panama. It is particularly unusual in that it is the only residential development to have received planning permission for (two) canals to be built. These canals are to allow the canal-front homes to have their own boat slip and to allow direct access to the open sea via the Bay of Almirante.

November 2008:: We took a helicopter tour over Sunset Point for an updated visual record, using both still and video cameras. See the results from over 700 photographs (the videos will follow next month).

October 2008:: The first two houses are well underway, and the second canal is finished.

June 2008:: housing materials delivery. A large Panamanian truck, ferried across for the mainland, delivers steel reinforcing rods and cement for the first houses on the development.

May 2008: The first phase of Sunset Point has 108 homes being built - a little over 50% of these lots have been sold to date. The canals have been recently completed (May 2008) , the roads and sewage systems are in place, the electricity is about to go in - and they broke ground on Lots 65 and 69 in May 2008 (i.e., started to dig the foundations for the first two homes).

Sunset Point is widely regarded in Panama as a development which has been approached and constructed in the right way: sympathetic to the natural surroundings, in line with the strictures of the Panamanian goverment and local planning, infrastructure of a high quality, and creative flair in the innovative canal-based design and the housing options. Esther Mena de Chio, Governor of Bocas Del Toro Province commented, "... the most environmentally friendly development in all of Panama."
